
The most interesting photos of Opole
We invite you to the Contemporary Art Gallery for the 20th anniversary edition of World Press Photo. It is the only show of this exhibition in Poland! The exhibition presents the results of the 63rd edition of the World Press Photo Competition, which awards professional photographers and their best photos taken in 2019 in two categories: single photos and photojournalists.
The exhibition is open for visitors until Sunday March 21st 2021, daily from 12:00 to 22:00.
4,282 photographers from 125 countries around the world took part in the competition, sending a total of 73,996 photos. Photo of the year the jury selected a photo taken by Yasuyoshi Chiba of Japan for France Press Agency, showing a young man reciting protest poetry, illuminated by cell phone light during a power cut in Khartoum, Sudan.

This year, a Polish photographer is also among the winners. Tomasz Kaczor received the first prize in the "Single Photo" category for the photo taken for Gazeta Wyborcza. The photograph shows Ewa, a 15-year-old Armenian woman, shortly after waking up from a catatonic state resulting from the so-called resignation syndrome, sitting in a wheelchair at the refugee center in Podkowa Leśna.
